Awhile back Figone, led by Jérémie Bonamant Teboul, had an Indiegogo campaign for the book Figopedia. It was volume one in a what they hope to be a multi part series, and it focused on light and shadow and color theory. Along with the book came one or two figures depending on your pledge level. I began working on one of them called The Queen of Barbary, and I'll be using techniques from the book. This is the very early stages, just laying down undercoats and base coats, as well as building the base.
The arch on the base was made out of aluminum foil and joint compound, learned form a tutorial by Mary Proffit on the WGC website. You can read the tutorial here.
