30k Ahzek Ahriman WIP

Here is the latest piece I'm working on, Ahzek Ahriman from the Burning of Prospero box. Still trying to work on my Gareth Nicholas style of painting, I feel like I'm improving there.

Last finished piece, Septimus and Nero

Here is my latest work, Septimus and Nero from the game Arena Rex. This game has a lot of amazing looking minis and I can't wait to paint more of them. You can also vote on this at Putty&Paint and CMON.

Project Turnip Head from Howl's Moving Castle

Recently I had an idea for a piece. I wanted to paint my favorite character from Miyazaki's movies, Turnip Head. The only problem, there's no model for him. So I had to sculpt him myself. I've only sculpted two things before, with minimal success, but third time's a charm, right? Here is what I've done so far.

For the base, I'm going to use a piece of plasticard as a canvas for a background scene. I'm going to try and paint a little version of the castle in the distance, hope it goes well.

It's been a long time!

It's been almost a year since my last post and I wanted to get back to the blog, so I thought I would start by explaining the absence. In the past 10 months I moved to a new house, got a new job, got extremely busy with said job, went through a bought of depression, escaped into video games rather than painting, continued being busy with the job then finally decided to start painting again. For Christmas I received two miniatures that kicked me into gear, I wanted to paint them for Crystal Brush which was only 3 months away so I had to get moving. So I got back on the horse and felt a new life for the hobby. I made it to Crystal Brush and things went well (more on that later) and learned a lot of new things from some of the best painters in the world. Now I'm working on new pieces for World Model Expo in July.

Now it's time to see what I've been working on the past few months, starting with my three entries for Crystal Brush 2017:

Eternal Crusader from Michael Kontraros Collectibles

Templar Knight in Jerusalem from Young Miniatures

St. Mark from Dark Age

At the show I got many comments from great artists on what I did well and what I need to improve on, nothing beats free lessons. And St. Mark took home a silver in the Dark Age sponsor category, so things went well.

Now here's a piece I started a long time ago but put aside never expecting to go back, but I'm glad I did pick it up again.

Lord of Slaanesh on Daemonic Mount from Games Workshop

That's all for now, I hope to be posting regularly again. In the coming days I'll make a post about a new piece I'm sculpting/painting. Having lots of fun with that one.
